During a meeting with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Walid Mohamed Ismail, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Nabeel Kadim Abid Al-Sahib demonstrated the agreements between the two countries in the field of university education and scientific and academic coordination. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib said that the two sides agreed on a number of cooperation files, including facilitating entry and residency visa procedures for Iraqi students, scholarships provided by Egyptian universities, reducing study fees and the twinning project between Baghdad and Cairo Universities. His Excellency renewed Iraq's keenness on developing scientific and cultural exchange between the two countries and promoting prospects for joint work in light of the agreed cooperation programs. Dr. Abid Al-Sahib reviewed the necessity of inaugurating an Iraqi cultural attaché in Cairo to follow up student affairs and facilitate university admission procedures. His Excellency stressed on the Iraqi universities’ readiness on granting scholarships to Egyptian students and promoting joint scientific research fields among university faculty members. For his part, Mr. Ismail expressed his appreciation for the interest provided by the Iraqi Higher Education and its institutions and the Iraqi Higher Education’s keenness on supporting the joint academic work between the two countries with everything that serves the two countries’ people.
