A faculty member in the College of Nursing, University of Thi-Qar obtained a patent on using drugs to treat cancerous lung fibrosis
The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, included implementing three types of the drug, dexamethasone, Altoplase and Lysatane to reduce complications of Blemycin treatment and give patients survival.
The patent reviewed that three drugs were used on laboratory rats via bleomycin in the treating cancerous tumors in humans which showed that the anatomical characteristics and changes in the appearance of the lungs of infected animals indicate of pulmonary fibrosis as a result of the using the bleomycin.
