College of Engineering, University of Diyala discussed a master dissertation on treating the compressibility of saline soils subjected to dynamic loads with fiberglass by the postgraduate student, Ms. Ruwaida Qader Hussein.

The dissertation reviewed the use of sandy soil containing salt using a new material, fiberglass at different ratios under the influence of machine foundation loads.

The dissertation highlighted that sandy soil was mixed with salt at ratios of 20% and 40%, while lower ratios such as 10% and 30% were tested but not studied due to their minimal effect.

The dissertation demonstrated that increasing the percentage of reinforcing material increases the efficiency of the foundation, a 2% ratio yielded good results in soil settlement at a lower cost and the final results of the improvement were better in saturated soils compared to dry soils.
