A medical team in the College of Medicine, University of Kufa conducted a stem cell transplantation surgery to a patient with heart failure, head of the team, Dr. Fadhil Ghali said.
Dr. Ghali added that the operation is conducted for the first time in Iraq, whereas the team conducted a successful transplant stem cells surgery to a patient from Province of Baghdad with a heart muscle failure after impossibility to perform surgery or catheter for the patient.
Dr. Ghali mentioned that the University is the top among the Iraqi universities in inaugurating a special research center for stem cells to treat various medical conditions and the medical system is considered one of the modern systems in treating diseases and injuries besides implementing it in plastic surgery for face and body.
