In cooperation with the European Union Delegation in Baghdad, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi organized the National Erasmus+ Day at the University of Baghdad from September 8-9, 2025.

During the event, Dr. Al-Aboudi reviewed that cooperation programs with the European Union represent a vital space for advancing higher education and scientific research. 

His Excellency highlighted that these programs provide professors with opportunities to develop their expertise and expand their research fields, enable students to engage in multicultural educational experiences and open up broad knowledge opportunities for researchers, as well as enabling administrative staff to gain modern organizational expertise in university education management and institutional governance.

Dr. Al-Aboudi confirmed that the Ministry has established specialized units to monitor Erasmus programs and approved the establishment of units in each Iraqi university to serve as effective communication centers, leverage international partnerships and transform them into educational and research projects that contribute to strengthen the position of Iraqi universities in the global academic landscape.

It is worth to be mentioned that the National Day events included delivering a scientific presentation by the Deputy of the Ministry, Dr. Haider Abd Dhahd, on academic cooperation and internationalization through Erasmus, as well as delivering speech by the Deputy Head of the European Union Mission in Baghdad, Mr. Adam Jansson, a number of Erasmus program experts and international academic figures were also honored.
