The College of Education, Samarra University discussed a master's dissertation on preparation, characterization and molecular modeling of some cyclic compounds and evaluated their biological activity by the postgraduate student, Mr. Ahmed Yaqoub Youssef.

The dissertation aimed at preparing the compound thioxazolidin-4-one, preparing of cyclic imide derivatives, preparing of oxazepine derivatives from Schiff bases, preparing of the compound thioxathiazolin-4-one and preparing of hydroquinazoline derivatives from Schiff bases.

The dissertation concluded the possibility of preparing the derivative (thioxothiazolidine-4-one) of 2-aminoterephthallic acid by reacting it with carbon disulfide in a first step, and reacting it with chloroacetyl chloride as a second step for closure, with a product percentage of 78% and preparing cyclic imides using dry benzene solvent only, as well as obtaining high product percentages (78-87%) and purity of Schiff base compounds.
