College of Science, University of Wasit examined the effect of obesity on leptin and melatonin levels and some associated genes using molecular and physiological markers by the postgraduate student, Ms. Marwa Mahdi Khalaf.
The thesis aimed at understanding the impact of obesity on various physiological and molecular aspects by assessing the hormones leptin and melatonin and their association with a group of obesity-related genes, namely LEPR, FTO, ADCY3, BDNF, TMEM18, and MC4R.
The thesis recommended the possibility of adopting certain molecular markers as tools to aid in the early detection of obesity and determine its severity.
