A master's dissertation was discussed in the College of Medicine, University of Kufa on the effect of obesity on the structure and diastolic function of the left ventricle of the heart by the postgraduate student, Mr. Baqir Abd Al-Amir. The dissertation reviewed the effects of obesity on the left ventricular structure and its diastolic function via including healthy obese participants and using the latest method to correct the left ventricular muscle mass in relation to body size. The dissertation concluded that uncomplicated obesity has a significant association with left ventricular hypertrophy (eccentric) with a slight deterioration in relaxation parameters and filling pressures of the left ventricle.
