College of Applied Medical Science, University of Karbala organized a workshop on air pollution, Dean of the College, Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Gashami said.
Dr. Al-Gashami added that the workshop, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, aimed at addressing main problems causing air pollution in Governorate of Karbala, finding solutions and ways to reduce them, increasing awareness of the dangers of pollution and encouraging active participation.
Dr. Al-Gashami mentioned that the workshop reviewed reasons behind air pollution, the criteria adopted in eliminating pollution, the health effects resulting from air pollution and risks, as well as air pollution with gases and dust.
Dr. Al-Gashami said that the workshop called on activating environmental laws that oblige all bodies to adopt specific criteria in turning any project into a green project, the importance of promoting the concept of sustainable development and increasing scientific studies and environmental research.
