Higher Education: On Vegetable Oils & Bio-Plastic

Department of Training, merged Ministry of Science and Technology delivered a course on bio-plastic applications made from biological sources such as vegetable oils and fats.

The course reviewed the composition of bio-plastic made with biomaterials and polyesters extracted from plants.

The course included highlighting the biological polymers of the non-chemical origins that are synthesized via microorganisms based on their microbial origin which is different in the composition of the molecules and physical properties.

The course also reviewed the possibility of investing oil products in plastic industries and providing safe environmental conditions such as using materials to package food and toys that aren’t easily disposed and slow in decomposing.
