During a symposium on updating humanity curricula, Higher Education launched projects of updating the humanity curricula in the Iraqi universities, His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalel Al-Esa said.
Dr. Al-Esa added that the symposium mentioned updating humanity curricula in the departments and colleges of administrative and economic sciences, political science, geography, urban and regional planning sciences, and English language.
His Excellency said that the Ministry is keen on developing the strategic trends in developing and updating curricula of the mentioned sciences for their effective role in creating human culture and behavior that based on philosophy which embody the relation between the individual and community, consolidate, strengthen the national identity and address a number of issues that face social, economic, political and legal reality in Iraq.
Dr. Al-Esa added that the curriculum is represented the main part in educational process with all its dimensions, it is the tool which education derives its capabilities in achieving goals of comprehensive and sustainable development plans and His Excellency mentioned that the value, efficiency and quality of the education’s graduates are evaluated by the strength of criteria of goals and topics of curricula.
Dr. Al-Esa confirmed on that the leading role played by faculty member as a teacher and leader in the community has a touchable impact in strengthening the system of values, trends and behaviors in the university environment which adopts the curricula.
It is worth mentioning that the symposium reviewed details of the projects of updating curricula and their importance in meeting the needs of the community’s vital sectors as well as the symposium concluded mentioning the scientific recommendations of the achievements, which is supervised by the Ministry's Advisor, Dr. Mohsin Al-Furaiji, in cooperation with the Directorate of Research and Development.
