College of Science, University of Anbar discussed a master thesis on a comparison between plasma jet and pulsed LASER ablation techniques for Au and Ag/ZnO core and shell nanoparticles for biomedical applications by the postgraduate student, Mr. Ali Abbas Khudair.
The thesis aimed at synthesizing and characterizing core and shell nanoparticles composed of gold as a core and zinc oxide as a shell and silver as a core and zinc oxide as a shell, for potential therapeutic applications against skin cancer.
The thesis evaluated the effects of two preparation techniques, specifically pulsed LASER ablation and plasma jet, on the optical, electronic and structural properties of the nanoparticles, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of nanoparticles prepared using both techniques against skin cancer cells and comparing them to normal cells.
