Technology University Obtains Patent

Faculty members in the Department of Material Engineering, University of Technology obtained a patent on manufacturing corrosion-resistant material via Nano-material for space applications.

The patent, in which granted by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Unit of the Ministry of Planning, included studying the mechanical and physical properties of a group of alternative materials prepared with a polymeric basis, as well as studying erosion properties of material against corrosion.

The patent reviewed using overlapping epoxy materials with a 3% glass fiber as a reinforced base material, atoms of advanced ceramics of aluminum oxide and silicon silica oxide, as well as titanium as reinforcement atoms in different sizes in manufacturing antioxidant and corrosion material will increase the efficiency and durability of space applications.
