Karbala University: On Modern Trends & Agricultural Pests

College of Agriculture, University of Karbala organized a symposium on the modern trends in pests’ control.

The symposium, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, aimed at addressing problems of agricultural pests, providing the agricultural sector with appropriate economic solutions and setting foundations for protecting plants from the spread of pests and raising agricultural productivity.

The symposium reviewed three topics on the recent trends in plant protection, the resistance of fungi to some chemical pesticides and the adoption of molecular methods in the diagnosis of pathogenic fungi.

The symposium recommended using modern methods to control agricultural pests within specific times, eliminating the bushes that lead to reduction of agricultural production and reduce the cultivation of GM crops for their role in the settlement of new pests.
