Dr. Al-Aboudi: Iraq Concludes Education 2025 Conference with Strategic Agreement with Clarivate & Announcement of its Achievements in Times Higher Education World University Rankings

The second edition of the Iraq Education 2025 Conference concluded with the participation of a select group of international experts and academics from Iraqi and international universities.

 

The conference, sponsored by His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi included various scientific activities. It ran from October 11 to 13, 2025, at University of Baghdad with a participation of representatives from several international institutions attended, including Times Higher Education, Clarivate, Elsevier, QS and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.

 

The conference witnessed inking of a strategic agreement between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Clarivate to strengthen the scientific research system, develop researchers' capabilities, and consolidate the presence of Iraqi universities in international rankings, announcing that Iraq obtained the 26th score globally in terms of the number of universities participating in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2026.

 

The conference included topics and recommendations related to academic attraction strategies regionally and internationally, the Times Higher Education initiative to enhance the global standing of Iraqi universities, comprehensive digital transformation, the partnership with Elsevier, academic accreditation, the scientific research strategy in Iraq, the Ministry of Higher Education's partnership with Clarivate, the strategy for Iraqi universities in the QS World University Rankings, the role of legislation in developing higher education, learning outcomes and the labor market, the role of the British Council in internationalizing higher education, the role of international organizations in supporting higher education development strategies in Iraq, Arab cooperation in building a knowledge economy, science and technology parks, business incubators, and the implementation of the Bologna Process in Iraqi universities.

 

It  is worth to be mentioned that His Excellency, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi emphasized at the opening of the conference that Iraq is moving forward to transform its Higher Education into a platform for innovation and internationalization, attracting students from across the globe, bringing together researchers from a variety of disciplines and engaging with knowledge in an integrated global space.
