College of Science, Thi-Qar University discussed a Ph.D. thesis on the synthesis and study of perovskite nano-solar cells to enhance their optical properties and improve their performance by the postgraduate student, Mr. Haider Hassan Ali.
The thesis aimed at preparing and improving environmentally friendly perovskite nanocrystals by replacing lead ions (Pb²⁺) with europium ions (Eu²⁺) and incorporating carbon quantum dots (CQDs) into the perovskite nanocrystals at different concentrations.
The thesis concluded that incorporating carbon quantum dots (CQDs)
at a concentration of 3% improved the perovskite energy bandgap from 1.74 eV to
1.52 eV, significantly enhancing light absorption in the visible region and a
3% increase in solar cell efficiency at this concentration, representing
promising results for this new formulation that reduces reliance on toxic
metals.
