College of Biotechnology, University of Al-Nahrain held an online symposium on gene therapy for cancer via CISCO WEBEX. The online symposium, in which a number of researchers and specialists participated, aimed at developing carcinogenic pharmacokinetics, monitoring the genetic changes in cancer cells, analyzing them accurately, and stopping the telomerase enzyme that accompanies the continuous growth of cancer cells. The online symposium reviewed gene expression during implementing non-coded RNA molecules (micro RNA), which is responsible on controlling the gene expression via contacting with the DNA of the specific gene to form a series of basal pairs that lead to instability of the compound, as well as reviewing process of inhibiting the expression and cloning of special proteins to divide and control cancer cells, which is one of the ways to develop cancer treatment. The online symposium also reviewed the most important genetic types of the virus in Iraqi women with this disease and the role of these microRNA molecules in inhibiting the process of cancer development or activation.
