College of Science, University of Basrah organized an online workshop on the steps of applying the phytoremediation technology. The online workshop reviewed the technology, studying the economic feasibility of its application, focusing on the treatment goals, the most important pros, cons and mechanics that the plant adopts in ridding the environment of pollutants and the steps of designing the laboratory experiment and the experiment of greenhouses and field. The online workshop demonstrated the ability of the water hyacinth plant to remove phosphorous pesticides and it is expected that this plant will be an effective alternative to remove agricultural industry residues in general.
