College of Science, University of Al-Mustansiriyah discussed a master dissertation on the use of the multi-scale retinox method for buried underwater objects by the postgraduate student, Mr. Safaa Hussein Ali. The dissertation aimed at finding techniques that help improving the images of submerged objects and raising their accuracy. The dissertation demonstrated the implementation of new stages for the Multi-Scale Retinex (MSR) algorithm and using of the color dithering method to set the absolute minimum and maximum of the three color bands. The dissertation highlighted measuring the performance of the proposed system in the optimization phase via using different data and how to raise the efficiency of images captured for objects in the detection phase with an accuracy ranging from 97% to 100%.
