During a participation in a workshop on guidelines for technical and vocational education and training professionals in Iraq and in cooperation with the UNESCO Office in Iraq and the European Union, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reviewed developing or revising curricula based on competency. The workshop demonstrated the achievement of the first phase of the TVET reform project, how to build on it, how to make maximum use of the qualifications framework, recent developments in the Bologna process and to strengthen Understand the guidelines for TVET professionals in Iraq with a view to develop or revise competency-based curricula, as well as the tools developed by UNESCO to implement the technical and vocational qualifications framework in Iraq. The workshop highlighted the suggestions and ideas submitted by specialists on how to direct their best efforts with the contribution of UNESCO and its related TVET projects. For their parts, the participants expressed their appreciation to the organizers of the workshop, which provided an opportunity to clarify the roles of stakeholders on how to apply professional guidelines and tools at the national level. It is worth mentioning that the workshop was attended by a Ministerial Team that included Advisors, Universities’ Presidents, a number of General Directors, experts and specialists.
